About Us - Meet the Executive - Past-President

The Past-President is the liaison between the outgoing and incoming administration.

What is your profession and area of practice?
“I am the district SLP for the Francophone school board. I see students in five schools throughout the province: École des Grands-Vents (St. John’s), École Sainte-Anne and École Notre-Dame-du-Cap (Port-au-Port Peninsula), Centre éducatif l’ENVOL (Labrador City), and École Boréale (Happy Valley-Goose Bay). At least once a year, I travel to the schools outside St. John’s for evaluations and one-on-one sessions. During the rest of the school year, I give in-person session to the students in St. John’s and online sessions to the students in the four other schools.”

What made you get into the profession?
“I have always had a passion for languages and communication so being an SLP seemed like a perfect fit. I think being able to express yourself is essential to everyone and I’m grateful that I can help people get through their communication difficulties to do so.”

What is your favorite hobby?
“I enjoy reading, playing board games, and spending time with friends and my family. I also enjoy going for hikes with my husband, Matt, and my dog, Ella.”

What is the best part about being involved in NLASLPA?
“Being involved with NLASLPA has provided me with many opportunities to meet and get to know people. Through being a member of volunteer committees, a member of the Executive, and attending the annual NLASLPA conferences, I have met, and continue to meet, some wonderful people.”
